Who Is The Lord?

Thousands of years ago the Pharaoh of Egypt asked a question that is still being asked by many. It was: Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go. (Exodus 5:2).

I think that by the time Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, Pharaoh had a better understanding of who exactly God is. “Who is God?” is not an easy question to answer, because we are trying to grasp the infinite with the finite. Evangelist Oral Roberts said, “that if God were small enough for our minds, He wouldn’t be big enough for our needs.” I love that !

Until the day we see Him face to face there are things about God we are never going to completely understand. For instance, I believe that God is holy, but I don’t understand everything about His holiness. I also believe God is a triune being—He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But that is hard for us to grasp.

I do believe, there is a day coming when it will all make sense. However, at the same time, I also believe that with the help of the Holy Spirit, there are many things that we can and should know and grasp about God.

This New Year, knowing God and making Him known should be the New Years resolution of every Christian.
