Show Love

Newspaper columnist and minister George Crane tells of a wife who came into his office full of hatred toward her husband. “I not only want to get rid of him, I want to get even. Before I divorce him, I want to hurt him as much as he has me.”

Dr. Crane suggested an ingenious plan “Go home and act as if you really love your husband. Tell him how much he means to you. Be as kind, considerate, and generous as possible. Make him believe you love him. When he is convinced of your undying love then drop the bomb. Tell him that your’re getting a divorce. That will really hurt him.” With revenge in her eyes, she smiled. For two months she showed love, kindness, listening, giving, reinforcing, honoring, sharing. After two months Dr. Crane called. “Are you ready now to go through with the divorce?”Divorce?” she exclaimed. “Never! I discovered I really do love him.”

Her actions had changed her feelings. Motion resulted in emotion. Friends, the ability to love is established not so much by fervent promise as often repeated deeds. Love is an “action” word.

Today, make up your mind to “show” love to your spouse and family. There is nothing more powerful then a made up mind determined to “show” love.

Christian School Teacher Lost Life Savings

A Christian school teacher lost her life savings in a business scheme that had been elaborately explained by a swindler. As he was speaking, she had a gentle check in her heart.  However, it sounded so good and promised her more then she had ever had before. She thought about the great things she could purchase with ALL the extra money that was going to come her way. So, she did not pray, or read her bible. She failed to ask the all important questions; “Is the the will of God for my life?” and “How will this effect me and my family for generations to come?”

When her investment dissappeared and her dream was shattered, she went to the Better Business Bureau. “Why on earth didn’t you come to us first?” the official asked. Didn’t you know about the Better Business Bureau?”

“Oh, yes,” sad the lady sadly. “Ive always know about you. But I didn’t contact you because I was afraid you would tell me not to do to.” Sadly, this same situation is played out thousands of times a day across America. The folly of human nature is that even though we know where the true answers lie, “God’s Word” we do not turn there for fear of what it will say.

Friends, Psalms 119:105 tells us, “God’s word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” As you pray and read the Bible God’s word will light up your life. Making those difficult and hard to reach answers seem like stepping stones on the way to God’s plan and purpose for your life.

God Speaks To Us In Our Spirit

For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18, NKJV

Just as we have physical ears, we have spiritual ears. God speaks to us in our spirit. Many times, He will speak things that contradict what we see with our eyes. You’re struggling in your finances, but you have a peace from God that he will see you through.

It doesn’t look like you’ll ever get well, but you hear that Holy Spirit saying, You’re healthy. You’re whole. It’s just the opposite of what it looks like. Friends, God calls you what you are before it happens. Abraham didn’t have any children when God called him a father of many nations. Gideon was afraid and felt unqualified to lead the Israelites yet God called him a mighty hero.

Quit being discouraged by what you see, which is temporary, and start being encouraged by what you hear, what God speaks to us is permanent. If you listen down in your spirit, you’ll hear that voice saying, New levels are coming with new opportunities and new relationships, and favor is in your future.

Can I get a Big Amen!
